Job Title: Golf Courses & Estates Manager
Reports to: General Manager
Responsible for: Head Greenkeepers, the course teams and mechanics
To ensure that the grounds and courses are kept in first class condition and are maintained to a level agreed in a Course Policy Document and in our Strategic Plan.
To search out and implement new working practices that will improve the playing surfaces and the presentation of the estate as a whole. The club has a vision to become the leading members club in a 40-mile radius and one of the UK’s top golf destinations whilst at the same time finding more efficient ways to increase the department’s presentation and profitability.
Frilford Heath is a rarity in the golf Industry, comprising of three championship courses, a 6-hole par 3 academy course and extensive practice facilities. Frilford Heath Golf Club, comprises of nearly 500 acres set in beautiful surroundings of the Oxfordshire countryside, not far from the city of Oxford and the Cotswolds. Frilford Heath is looking for a new Courses and Estates Manager, as our current Manager and 2017 BIGGA President, Sid Arrowsmith retires after 25 years’ service at the end of 2018.
The successful candidate would be responsible for the continuing development of all our facilities as we look to continue our strategy of continual investment. This is to ensure that the club stays at the forefront of the golf industry with quality by using the latest technology and innovations. One of the most significant investments in the coming years will be addressing the issue of our irrigation and possibly project managing the installation of a new irrigation system across the complex. We want to provide our customers whether that be our Members, England Golf or The R&A with first class golf courses and consistently win their loyalty and advocacy.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make their mark by their drive, enthusiasm, knowledge, skill and man-management of the greenkeeping team. Being part of the senior management team reporting to the General Manager with a proactive Board of Directors will provide direction and opportunities for the new Courses and Estates Manager.
The remuneration package will be commensurate of such a position in a prestigious proprietary club as Frilford Heath.
