A great couple of weeks for Ashley Walton and Ben Paterson started with a close second place for Ashley in the Beaumont Pease Trophy at Tadmarton.
Ben followed with an excellent victory in the Frilford Heath Gold Medal. After opening with a round of 66 on the Green course, he held his nerve and holed an eight footer on the eighteenth for a round of 71 on the Red course to claim victory by 1 shot over Sandy Bolton, the current county champion who has recently joined Frilford. Ashley, who was the defending champion, finished joint 5th alongside England International Eddie Pepperell.
Ashley then went up to Enville for regional qualifying for the Open Championship. An eagle on the 17th secured joint second place with a round of 69. He is now off to Scotscraig for final qualifying on the 29th. Former club champion, Martin Woodbridge, who is now an assistant at The Wisley, also qualified.
On Wednesday 23rd Ashley and Ben teamed up for the BB&O scratch foursomes at Studley Wood and proved their strength as a pair by taking the title for the second time in 3 years.
