Martin Matthews achieved his first ever hole in one whilst playing in the Mellersh Cup on Sunday 6th May. It came at the 6th hole on the Green Course. Martin struck a 5 iron from the white tees (152 yards) which landed a couple of yards short of the green but bounced through the gap between the front bunkers. After a couple more bounces the ball ran towards the hole where it disappeared from view. A tense wait ensued because his threeball were not 100% sure that it had fallen in the cup but after a brisk walk to the green, the Titleist 3 was found at the base of the hole. On a wave of adrenalin, Martin then chipped in at the 7th before the magnitude of the achievement sank in and the rest of the round was less successful!
