Juniors

Frilford Heath's Junior Section has grown steadily in recent years and now has more than 100 talented young players. We have a dedicated Junior Organiser, Chris Allen, who along with volunteers, helps administer, promote and encourage junior golf at Frilford Heath.

Most new juniors join us without a handicap and although they are not permitted to play on the courses until they have one, our team of professionals offer discounted lessons to teach them about golf and its traditions.

Frilford Heath participates in the Oxfordshire Junior Golf League, which consists of 18 clubs. We enjoy four home and away matches each season and also arrange eight more friendly games against other local clubs to allow our second team a chance to compete away from home.

There are regular junior fixtures including eight Stableford competitions between April-October. We also hold a Matchplay competition, an Eclectic competition, a Junior Club Championship, the Challenor Rosebowl competition, and at least one adult/junior competition.

We maintain a book of all local club competitions and encourage all eligible juniors to play in as many as possible.

Almost 20 per cent of our juniors are single figure handicap golfers and some of our cadets have been selected to represent the country. Understandably we are very proud of them and we expect to see this section go from strength to strength in the future. To help and encourage our juniors the club has set up the 200 Club, the profits of which go towards the junior section. Any money raised is spent on such things as extra coaching, junior shirts, expenses for matches and entry fees.

If you have any queries on junior membership or would like an application form, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Information on junior membership fees is available on the Membership home page.
